We bet it wasn’t a carry-on. When this 1935 Morgan F-2 was bought on the Isle of Man last year, the owner brought it back to the U.S. with him as checked baggage. The 850-pound car was secured to a steel plate and loaded into the airplane. Free of shipping and handling charges was the racing history that came with the car; winner of the Great Britain 3-Wheel Championship 37 out of 50 years. Modified for racing in 1936, the trike received a cross-flow, overhead-valve Wilamet head that bumped the output of the two-cylinder to 100 hp. A conversion in the mid-’50s replaced the two speed transmission with an MG midget four-speed gearset, supposedly making the car capable of 120 mph. The owner claims he has never had the car in fourth gear, and we don’t blame him. He showed us a picture of the car cornering in a race with the inside front tire a good seven inches off the ground. Better to limit the Morgan’s flying to the belly of a Boeing.
