Jaguar has chosen the exotic-focused 2008 Geneva and New York auto shows, to let two of its most exotic cats to date out of its bag.
The 2009 XJ Portfolio Edition and the 2009 XKR Portfolio Edition represent the most opulent versions of each of these all-aluminum supercats.
As before, the XJ Portfolio Edition takes a luxury bent with Celestial Black or Astral Gold paint, 20-inch wheels, milled aluminum side vents, CATS active-suspension bits, and a navy/champagne or champagne/navy interior theme loaded to the gills with goodies. The XJ Portfolio Edition will be available with the choice of a naturally aspirated or supercharged 4.2-liter V-8.
Like the 2008 XKR Portfolio Edition, the 2009 model will be available in only one color this time around—Shadow Gray—and with one engine: the 420-hp, 4.2-liter supercharged V-8, mated to a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The XKR Portfolio will come as either a coupe or convertible.
It also wears the same style of aluminum vents and 20-inch wheels as the XJ Portfolio. As before, the XKR Portfolio’s claws are sharpened a bit with standard CATS and enhanced Alcon brakes (15.8 inches in front, 13.8 in back) with red calipers.
Pricing has not been set, but don’t be surprised if you’re staring at six figures for either one when they become available in limited numbers starting this summer.
