If you measured the distance from the tip of the hood ornament to the ground on this 1936 Avion-Voisin C28 Aerosport Aero Coupe, we’d bet it’s within two inches of the car’s overall height. The French Voisin brothers cut their teeth in the aviation business, and claim to have made the world’s first completely powered takeoff, (the Wright brothers rolled their flying machine down a hill to gain speed). When they later turned their attention to luxury automobiles, their knowledge of aerodynamics became evident in styling cues like this car’s chopped roofline and pontoon fenders. This one-of-a-kind, all-aluminum coupe was coming to America for the first time, making a pit stop at Meadow Brook on its way to a private collection in California.
