Maybach built chassis, which were bodied by many different coachwork companies, but the nearby Karosserie Spohn, in nearby Ravensburg, bodied most of the Zeppelins. Very few were built in this closed limousine style, of which this is the only survivor. This one actually started life as a four-seat cabriolet, but was rebodied in this style just a few years later. The “7” or “8” in the name refers to the engine size, seven or eight liters.
