Pontiac has been very successful in the past few years with its big, brawny sedans. Last year, the Pontiac Bonneville won the Full-Size Sedan category, outdrawing the Ford Galaxie; this time the Catalina! Grand Prix models did the same job, even increasing the margin of victory slightly. We’ve tested the Pontiac GTO, the 2 + 2, the Bonneville, and just about every Pontiac you can name—except the Catalina and the Grand Prix. Which prompted us to get things moving on a Grand Prix road test for an upcoming issue. We caused a big stir in March, 1965 by pitting a Pontiac 2 + 2 against a Ferrari 2 + 2. Pontiac builds cars you can do that with.
