Rich appointments, subdued styling and a fistful of awards make Mercury’s Cougar the prestige car in the sporty car market. With the exception of the limited-production GT.E version (427 cu. in. V-8), Mercury has chosen to leave all-out performance to the other sporty cars and has concentrated instead on the personal car concept. Fourth in our six-car comparison (C/D, March), first in the hearts of our readers.
