Mercedes-Benz is sitting in Fat City with two winners—and one of them, the 250 series, is being replaced this year by an improved model. Since its introduction in 1964, we have been enthusiastic fans of the Mercedes 600, a car that as an engineering achievement rivals a soft lunar landing, and as a means for high- speed travel in absolute luxury is completely unique. As a complement to the 600, we’d be hard pressed to come up with a better choice than the same manufacturer’s 250 series— unless it might be one of the “New Generation” Mercedes 250s.
